Jim and I took our Novice tests together back in 1986, by 2000 we had both upgraded to Extra Class.
Our "family" includes our dog Maggie a Border Collie mix and "Turtle-Turtle" a 30+ year old Western box turtle.
Our recent addition is a Katrina survivor named Monroe- a mysterious small water turtle. Millie our Chesapeake Bay retriever of 12 years went to doggie heaven earlier this year.
I enjoy our involvement in the lighthouse events. Look for W5AZO during lighthouse QSO parties. I also like doing "Lighthouse Activations" such as the N8L special event to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan or operating as N9L from Door County Wisconsin. You can also sometimes find me giving out "Morris County" on 20 meters from our cabin in East Texas.
I was the first YL to complete all three modules of the ARRL Emergency Communications certification program and had the opportunity to utilize those skills in the aftermath of the Channelview tornado.
My amateur radio awards include WAS and DXCC.
Professionally, I do public relations and fund raising for several clients in the Dallas area.
Thanks to all those who listen for me in a pile-up!
